Fall on ice leaves no trace of difficulty

Recently I went to the front lawn to get the local paper. Oblivious of the weather, I stepped from the grass onto a frozen sheet of ice on the sidewalk. This type of sudden freeze is very unusual in our area.

My feet slipped from under me, and I fell flat on my back. My head hit the frozen sidewalk. This was a complete shock, but I rose as fast as the downward plunge.

A bicyclist passing on the street asked if I needed help, but I was already on my feet. I thanked him for his concern, and he went on his way. The lump on my head disappeared in two days, and there was no aftereffect.

"I will sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations" (Ps. 89:1). This Bible verse is my theme song in my volunteer work. Thanks be to God for the life of Mary Baker Eddy, and for the friend who invited me to a service of the Christian Science Society she was a member of.
