WEDNESDAY'S GIFTS

Referring to the weekly testimony meetings held at The First Church of Christ, Scientist, the founder of this magazine urged those holding the services to "invite all cordially and freely to this banquet of Christian Science, this feast and flow of Soul" (Mary Baker Eddy, Miscellaneous Writings, p. 149).*

When invited to a dinner party or festive occasion, one often brings a small gift—candy, flowers, or some other thoughtful item. While you wouldn't be expected to bring any of these gifts to a church service, wine, as it's defined spiritually, would certainly be welcome. Yes, wine: "inspiration; understanding" (Science and Health, p. 598). Gratefully pouring out and sharing illumined thoughts and proofs of spiritual progress, we open our thought by giving—and, thereby, receive. All are blessed, inspired, refreshed.

Come to think of it, this kind of wine, distilled and bottled by daily practice of the Science of Christ, would be welcome anytime, anywhere.
