God's will for you is health

Yield to the divine will.

THIS WAS CLEARLY a very religious man standing in my office doorway. My husband and I were in the middle of moving to another part of the country, and while the movers were taking a break, one of them asked my occupation. My answer, that I'm in the healing work of Christian Science, led to a lively discussion about God and Christ Jesus. And about health. This man had been challenged for some months, he said, with a painful internal physical trouble. He truly believed that God can heal, and he expected God to heal him. But despite his own earnest praying, there were no results, so he went to a doctor, who recommended an operation. "I guess it just wasn't God's will for me to be healed this time," the man concluded.

I gently took exception to this, and began to tell him about some of the many physical healings my family and I and people I know had experienced by relying on God with the understanding of Him we have gained through Christian Science. This devout churchgoer listened attentively and then said, "We must talk more about this sometime." And we have.

People who are accustomed to praying for God's help in difficulties—as well as those who are not—can, through the teachings of Christian Science, learn how to rely on Him for healing of disease and bodily suffering—to rely on God, who, the Bible states, "healeth all thy diseases" (Ps. 103:3).
