Valuing today
Packed In A Box of keepsakes was a golden chiffon dress I had worn to a special party with a very special friend. I put on the dress. It no longer fit and was no longer becoming. A fond memory, but I didn't need to regret that the dress couldn't transport me back to another day. Today I have clothes appropriate for my needs, and other friends and events to value.
No matter how pleasant memories are, the good God has for us today needs to be cherished. God never stops giving. Good only seems to cease if we stop discovering God's goodness.
Looking beyond my loveliest memories of the past, I also recall many fears and limitations that disappeared as I learned to depend more on God for all my needs. I've grown spiritually through searching to know more about God. That has made quite a difference. There have always been problems solved and problems that still need more prayer. But the best years of my life continue to be today.
