MEGAN AND THE HAMSTER
One day when Megan was not quite two years old, she was visiting her great-grandma and great-grandpa. Megan got to hold their hamster. She had held him before, but for some reason, this time the hamster bit Megan on the end of her finger. Megan cried and her finger bled. And Megan wanted Mama. (That's what she calls her grandma. Megan stays with Mama three days a week while Mommy works.)
Mama came right away to pick up Megan. Megan sat in Mama's lap, and they talked about how God was right there with her and with the hamster. God loved Megan and the hamster, and God would never let one of His ideas be hurt. Then Megan and Mama went home, and Megan took her nap.
While Megan was napping, Mama continued to pray. She knew that God is Love and that His whole creation expresses Love. God governed the hamster, so he could be only gentle and good. Mama also knew that Megan is truly God's perfect, spiritual idea, made in His image and likeness—just like a reflection in a mirror. As God's reflection, Megan could never be hurt, since God is never hurt. So the bitten finger was a lie about God's child, and therefore it could be healed.
