The value of being a nonconformist
I was always a nonconformist. When a teenager, I was proud of that characteristic. Nobody could make me do what I didn't want to do. But then I found myself in a college classroom taking an oral test. For the first time, I began to doubt if I really was an independent thinker.
There were about fifteen students taking the test with me. The teacher took our votes as to what appeared on various charts, graphs, words, and designs she displayed.
