Move ahead to healing—now

A virus is actually lifeless. From a spiritual perspective it is also powerless. We can prove this and be free.

The Predicted Dusting of snow had turned into an unexpected raging blizzard, and a colleague and I were driving home from another city where we had been attending a conference. We were unprepared for such weather. In fact, we were wearing suits and dress shoes; we didn't even have winter coats, gloves, or boots! We heard on the radio that the interstate highway was closed ahead of us and that emergency vehicle assistance would be unavailable.

My colleague was very frightened as the car crawled down the highway through the freezing, total whiteout conditions. All at once, a car seemed to materialize ahead of us, stalled in the only open lane. On both sides of us were piles of impassable snow. It appeared that several cars were stranded ahead, and some people were standing around outside. By this time, both of us were feeling fearful. I turned to my colleague and said, "I'm going to pray now."

For me, prayer is turning away from whatever is distressing me, and opening my thought to know what God, the only true Mind, is knowing. I found it helpful to repeat the words to "the scientific statement of being" in Science and Health (see p. 468) until I could feel within myself the meaning and power of those words. I acknowledged that the infinite Mind, God, was governing my own life and actions and that I—and everyone—could trust in this Mind. I thought of a statement from the same book: "Divine Love is infinite. Therefore all that really exists is in and of God, and manifests His love" (p. 340).
