Q A
Q Are we to believe that our physical existence and all matter around us is an illusion? Help me out, I can't get past the idea that matter does not exist.
A Someone once said that the way we see the problem is the problem. The same could be said for perceiving existence through the physical senses. When those senses are all that we rely on, then existence appears to be solidly material, and the statement that it isn't the reality it appears to be seems difficult to believe. But the physical senses are unreliable. They can't perceive that which is spiritual as tangible and substantial. Only through our spiritual senses—our God-given ability to know God, divine Spirit—are we able to see through the illusion of materiality and perceive the real universe and the real man which Spirit has made.
Mary Baker Eddy, Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, established the Church of Christ, Scientist, "... to commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing."
Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy
