cold symptoms quickly cured
In the Gospel of John, Christ Jesus states, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10). I had pondered these words for many years. Then, four years ago, I began to glimpse their meaning when I came across a copy of Science and Health in the public library. How does one speak of "joy unspeakable"? (I Pet. 1:8)
Christian Science teaches us to know and to love the one God, immortal and divine goodness. Knowing and loving God enables us to know and love man, God's perfect, spiritual reflection. Science and Health states, "Those instructed in Christian Science have reached the glorious perception that God is the only author of man" (p. 29).
One day last year, I seemed to have all the symptoms of a cold. I began to declare truths of man's real, spiritual nature as God's reflection and to reject the lie that man is material. I went to the office as usual. About lunchtime, the thought came to me that there is no such thing as a cold, that it is merely four letters of the alphabet that could as easily be arranged to spell other words. With this clear recognition of the unreality of the illness, the cold symptoms simply vanished, and I rejoiced. This has led me to see anything that opposes good to be an illusion, not reality.
