A drug-free approach to health

Christ heals today.

Health theories abound. They change. They come and go. Is there a form of health care that is sure? Unchanging? Many today are looking at the health issue from a higher, spiritual point of view. The Scriptures are full of examples of spiritual cures that transcend worries about food or reliance on material methods for help.

Take this event described in the book of Luke. The disciple Peter was at home with his mother-in-law, who was sick with a fever (see Luke 4:38, 39). Jesus stopped by, and those present urged him to help her: According to the record, "he stood over her, and rebuked the fever." And that was that. It was an immediate cure. The account goes on to tell us that she got up and "ministered" to them.

What happened? Jesus didn't give her any medication. He "rebuked" the fever. He didn't rebuke her. Her didn't rebuke the body. He rebuked, or "checked," the fever with sureness and authority. What authority? The power of his Father, divine Mind. Jesus knew he was never separated from God, Mind, and in the ever-presence of Mind, fever has no place. It doesn't exist. Jesus healed through Mind anything that did not fit with Mind. It was rebuked and annihilated as unknown, unreal, nonexistent. Jesus proved this, over and over again.
