Pain conquered

Last year I had a very beautiful healing after applying some of the healing truths Mary Baker Eddy shared in her writings. I was suffering from discomfort in both of my arms. The problem in my left arm was the result of an accident I'd had about three years earlier. Although I had full use of my arm,

I often had a nagging pain that I ignored because it was not severe. Then last winter I suddenly began to have sharp pains in my right arm, as well. At first I wondered what might have caused this, but I quickly realized it was time to refuse to accept any pain as real, no matter what the cause seemed to be, and to turn to God in prayer. All my life I have successfully depended on God and Christian Science to heal me and to meet my every need.

As I was prayerfully treating the problem in my right arm, I thought of David's story in the Bible. When he was preparing to fight Goliath, he said, "The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine" (I Sam. 17:37). I realized that whether error appears as a lion or a bear or whatever, the law of God could and would heal me of what was in reality only a false belief of mortal mind and never true about me as a spiritual idea of God.
