Survivor or conqueror?

I Was In A grocery supermarket when all electrical power was suddenly lost. The market was dark. I could hear other shoppers nearby but could not see them. I reached in my pocket for a small penlight that was attached to my key chain. As I turned on this small light, a person nearby exclaimed, "Now there is a survivor!" I was amused by being called a survivor, but I certainly strive to be more than this; through my practice of Christian Science I strive to triumph over challenges through turning to God.

What do I mean by that? An understanding of God's allness and goodness gives us confidence even when we are facing great difficulties. In his epistle to the Romans, St. Paul wrote, "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation,or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ... Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us" (8:35, 37).
