Dear Sentinel

I was in a carpool for my ballet class. One time when I was coming home, the driver didn't watch to see if anyone let me in my house. She just dropped me off and drove away. I rang the doorbell, but no one came to let me in. I went around to see if the back gate was open, but it was locked. I went to two different neighbors' houses that I knew, but they weren't home either.

By then it had started to rain. I started thinking, "Diane, you know that you are not alone. You know that God is with you wherever you are, and He is with you here right now." That cheered me up a whole lot.

I went back to my house and climbed over the back gate so I could at least get into the backyard. I checked the patio door, but it was locked. I saw my dog inside the house on the other side of the sliding glass door, and I sat down on the deck next to him. That made me feel better, too. I started thinking again about how I wasn't alone because God was with me. I knew that eventually my mom would be home.
