WORKPLACE
Always employed
"It was a turbulent time, but we were able to establish and maintain peace in our lives."
When I was pregnant with our first child, my husband, who had been dissatisfied with his job for some time, felt that he could no longer tolerate it. Yet he worked such long hours that it was difficult for him to look for other work. What's more, his job would provide for all our childbirth expenses.
I turned to God, trusting wholeheartedly in His care. As I studied the Bible, together with Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, I realized that God is our employer. No matter what job we have—or think we need—each of us is actually employed as the expression of God's love and goodness. In His universe, the realm of Spirit, there is neither unemployment nor under employment. Rather, we are needed and valued as His expression every moment.
As my husband and I listened for God's direction, we felt it was right for him to quit his job in order to search for new employment. He found another job that was more financially secure and had better opportunities for advancement, and we were able to pay for the childbirth and all of our other expenses.
