You don't have to put up with that!

For some time while I was in middle school, my hands were covered with warts. When I was sitting in class one day and spotting a new wart, a thought came to me so clearly, almost as though it had been spoken: "You don't have to put up with that!"

Instantly, I knew this was true. I didn't have to put up with anything God didn't make, and I was sure He didn't make warts. I was so sure because the Bible says, "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good" (Gen. 1:31). And later we read in John, "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made" (1:3).

Warts aren't good, and they don't belong to God's man. As part of God's "very good" creation, man cannot be flawed in any way. The next time I remember looking at my hands, they were totally free of warts. The conviction that we don't have to put up with anything that isn't from or of God has also helped me overcome what appeared to be athlete's foot and a painful knee condition.
