I have had many healings by applying the laws of God as given...
I have had many healings by applying the laws of God as given in the Bible and in Science and Health. Some came "in the twinkling of an eye," and some took longer. This one took a year, but it was great spiritual growth and progress.
My vision was blurred, and I would have moments of total darkness. Because of my driver's license (though I was no longer driving), I had my eyes examined. I was then sent to a specialist. He told me it was a condition of deterioration of the retina and it wouldn't get better, just worse. I felt so afraid of how my life would be if I couldn't see. I had prayed occasionally about my vision since I was fourteen, when I first got glasses. But I had prayed mostly because I didn't like wearing glasses or contact lenses. Now I started praying more diligently and with a different motive.
In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy uses this statement in the definition of eyes in the glossary: "Eyes. Spiritual discernment,—not material but mental." The definition goes on to say, "Jesus said, thinking of the outward vision, 'Having eyes, see ye not?' (Mark viii. 18.)" (p. 586). Spiritual discernment doesn't have anything to do with eyeballs, but with understanding.
