Stilling the storm
A sudden storm
Of distress and pain;
Waves of doubt
Made hope seem vain.
Fear did whisper,
"I cannot stand."
An angel answered,
"God, Love, is at hand!
"He is your fortress,
Your strength and stay.
There is no power
To sweep you away."
A second temptation:
"What if I fail?"
The answer came gently,
God, good, does prevail."
Oh, how could I doubt
That Truth is my shield
When such wondrous thougths
Are ever revealed?
The Saviour is present.
I know 'tis God's will
That Christ calm the waves
With his "Peace, be still."
The storm was done
And the dawn had broken;
Healing had come
For God had spoken.
