HEALTH & HEALING
God will save us—even in an emergency
THE overcoming of fear is an essential first step toward Christian healing, because fear is a fundamental component of all disease and discord. Science and Health has this to say: "Fear is the fountain of sickness, and you master fear and sin through divine Mind; hence it is through divine Mind that you overcome disease. Only while fear or sin remains can it bring forth death" (pp. 391—392).
If we are fooled by fear, our trust in God's ever-present goodness and His omnipotence is shaken. Only when we are willing to give God absolute control over our well-being are we really safe. In the presence of divine Love, fear dissolves. The heavenly peace that then comes to us is the natural way God is assuring us that all is well and always has been. We know that the discord is not of God, and therefore has no real power over us. When fear no longer has any foundation, it disappears. Divine Love is always with us as our sure defense and healer. Throughout the Bible are accounts of individuals who were able to heal disease and save themselves and others from harm in critical situations by trusting God, Love. Christ Jesus and his apostles proved this many times.
We read in Psalms, "Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. . . . I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope" (Ps. 16:1, 8,9).
