When I was a young adult I was living alone in my parents'...
When I was a young adult I was living alone in my parents' newly purchased home while they remained in the home they were selling. This was a time in my life when I felt I was asserting "independence," and I was not actively practicing Christian Science. My dear mother always held me in her prayerful embrace, however, and occasionally asked a Christian Science practitioner to help her pray about her own concerns regarding my situation. No matter what I was doing humanly, my mother was never fooled into believing in the reality of anything other than my pure, permanent, spiritual identity as a child of God.
I began to experience new—and far better—"independence" as I strove to be more obedient to God.
