Finding the answer in church

I was in graduate school and things were kind of tough. I was reaching the end of a master's degree program, and I needed to write a thesis. At this point nothing seemed to be going right. My first thesis advisor had left the school, and things just weren't clicking with the second one. I was in church one Sunday, and I was really looking for answers. I was thinking about my problems while the service was going on and wondering what to do.

Then as I listened to the church service, suddenly the answer I had been looking for came to me. And it wasn't about how I should approach my topic. The answer was to go into a different field entirely! This thought had come to me before, but I hadn't listened to it. At that moment, as I was listening to what was being read at the service from the Bible and from Science and Health, I realized that was the answer. And what was incredible about it was that everything just fell into place after that.

I changed programs about a year later, and my financial problems, which had become rather extreme, fell away. I no longer had a problem paying for my tuition because I had a scholarship and a part-time job that took care of all my needs. The program turned out to be very challenging but also very rewarding, and has led me to a satisfying career. And I've never felt that a moment was wasted, for the training that I received in my previous major has also proved valuable to me in significant ways.
