In an effort to antidote its community's anger, fear, and grief following the brutal killing of two men, church members sponsored an open house in their Reading Room, located a short distance from the scene of the crime. Two book talks on Science and Health were held in the Reading Room, the community's only bookstore. The first of these talks was aimed at local leaders involved in the neighborhood's renewal efforts.
