Peace behind the wheel
Traffic conditions seem less than friendly if we're reacting to rush-hour congestion, diversions, inconsiderate and even reckless drivers, or adverse weather conditions. Yet it is possible and right to achieve a state of thought on the road that not only enables us to drive safely and serenely in all conditions but also has a beneficial effect on those around us.
Consider this passage from the Bible: "Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the Lord he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else" (Deut. 4:39). Science and Health puts it this way: "God is everywhere, and nothing apart from Him is present or has power" (p. 473).
These ideas are a powerful help. God, infinite good, is omniaction; therefore the movement of His expression, man, is always harmonious. We can never truly be outside the divine presence at any stage of our journey, short or long.
