The 1997 Annual Meeting of the members of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, will continue to honor Mary Baker Eddy's foundation statements of mission and purpose for her Church—and their application to this age and time.

Mission: "... to commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing."Manual of The Mother Church, p. 17.

Purpose: "... to impress humanity with the genuine recognition of practical, operative Christian Science." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 207.
