In August 1995, I was bitten by a snake when I was walking along a path. Thoughts came to me that suggested how dangerous a snakebite can be, and I was afraid. I reported this to my mother, who shared some portions from Science and Health with me. One passage says, "We are Christian Scientists, only as we quit our reliance upon that which is false and grasp the true" (p. 192). And another points out, "The divine Love, which made harmless the poisonous viper, which delivered men from the boiling oil, from the fiery furnace, from the jaws of the lion, can heal the sick in every age and triumph over sin and death" (p. 243).
Healed of snakebite.
