Examples that make morals for mankind
Manuel Lubian, a taxi driver in Mexico City, recently got his name in the newspapers in the best of ways. "Etceteras," The Christian Science Monitor, January 22, 1997 . He's the one who returned a briefcase left in his cab with $53,000 in cash in it. He spent two days searching hotels to find the owner. He even refused the reward money offered to him.
And there was the experiment where one hundred and twenty wallets were "lost" in a dozen communities in the United States—ten wallets per community. "Seattle Wins Wallet Return Test, Honestly," Los Angeles Times, November 5, 1995 . Each wallet held $50 cash. Most were returned with the money intact. Nine out of ten in Seattle. Even the poorest big-city showing was five out of ten.
