As a child, I experienced many wonderful healings, including measles, mumps, and whooping cough (as a four-month-old infant). These healings were quick and complete.
As an adult, I realize that the understanding of God I gained as a child has provided a wonderful foundation from which to pray. One healing in particular stands out.
One morning I noticed a small growth on the side of my face. I didn't pay much attention to it at the time because I thought it was simply a blemish that would soon go away. Much to my dismay, however, the condition appeared to worsen, and the growth quickly blackened. I began to feel great pain whenever I touched it or washed my face. Despite this, instead of praying immediately, I felt lazy and apathetic until a friend suggested that either I correct the problem by applying divine Science or pursue a medical diagnosis. Although I was tempted to be alarmed by her concern, I knew that it was instead time to turn to God wholeheartedly.
