Having been raised as a Christian Scientist, I feel this testimony of gratitude is long past due! I have been blessed in so many ways from my study of Christian Science, it is difficult to choose one specific healing, but a few years ago I had an experience that proved the immediacy of Christian Science treatment.

I was living in a small town and renting a room in a house. There was to be an annual Mardi Gras celebration in a nearby town. My housemate, one of her friends, and I were going to the festivities. Because I don't drink I was chosen as the driver, and we left early in the evening. During the drive over, they were giving me conflicting directions, and I was getting impatient and perturbed. On the way, one of my passengers asked me to stop briefly at a friend's house. As I helped her out of the back seat, my thumb was caught between the release lever and the seat. The pain was immediate and intense.

I assured both passengers that I was fine, and while the one person went in to see her friend, I took a short walk. As I prayed, I could see so clearly that my disturbed thinking was behind this, and not the car seat. I knew it was my thought that needed calming. When my passenger returned, I continued driving to the celebration. After we parked, we all decided to rendezvous in a few hours at a local restaurant.
