The Bible—its promises are for you!
Have you let the Bible speak directly and specifically to you right where you are? Have you let it awaken a new conviction of God as Love, a power greater than any problem you may face? If you haven't yet experienced God's healing love in this way, it's not too late to start.
For years I'd loved my Bible—especially God's many promises in it. But it hadn't occurred to me that those promises were as surely spoken to me and to anyone else picking up that book as they were to Abraham or Jacob or Moses, or any other of "those people in the Bible." The point is, these figures in the Bible took His promises to heart, trusted that God's faithfulness to His children included them too, and so they experienced the fulfillment of His promises.
I needed to want to hear God and let His promises speak to me too. That day came when I went to my Bible prayerfully, expectantly. This time, instead of reading words and then intellectually trying to figure out what they meant, I let God do the talking and interpreting; I did the listening. What a difference this made!
