Divine guidance for the voter
To many of us, the political process often seems devoid of godliness. It appears that campaigns are designed to manipulate people's thinking and emotions rather than to inform and educate. As a result, the integrity of electoral systems can be compromised—leaving the voter feeling confused about what position, political party, or candidate to support.
Whether a vote is being cast in a national election, for a village council, in a community clubroom, or at a family meeting around the kitchen table, divine guidance is available to bring clarity and direction to the individual seeking the right decision and course of action. Rather than feel confusion or apathy when voting, each of us can appeal to God, the source of all intelligence and integrity, to gain the right perspective and to lead us to the right decisions.
Two Biblical illustrations of the adjudication of justice are helpful in protecting thought from undue political manipulation and influence, and engaging the kind of thinking that results in good decisions.
