Decisions when it is time to vote

Far from being merely of local interest, democracy is having a wider global impact than ever. Just recently there were presidential elections in Caribbean and Central American countries. During the elections for Prime Minister in Israel last June, the outcome was decided by a very slim margin of votes. And throughout the presidential election in Russia, many countries around the world were awaiting the outcome to see if that country's tendencies toward a more democratic government would continue.

At the time this publication reaches its readers, citizens of two major countries will be preparing to go to the polls: Brazil and the United States of America. Progress through yielding to God's direction in the exercising of individual rights, including one's right to vote, means greater justice and stability. That applies not only for local people but also for their neighbors and global partners.

Sometimes people ask: "Can prayer be applied to the electoral process? How can prayer support the best form of government?"
