Last winter I was planning a ski trip into a remote mountain area. A few days before leaving, some water lodged in my ear while I was swimming. It became painful, and I wasn't able to heal it through my own prayers.
I became scared, and had the ear cleaned at a medical clinic. The doctor said the ear was infected, and he prescribed some medication. Very fearful, I had the prescription filled. Then I asked, "What am I doing?" After all my study, and the healings I had had in Christian Science, I did not feel right about this course of action, and I did not take the medication. Instead I called a Christian Science practitioner for help.
I also decided to go on the ski trip, and before the start of the trip I studied the Lesson earnestly. The ear was not any better, however. The next morning I called the practitioner and said how tired I was of praying so hard. She said she would continue praying for me. Immediately I felt a calm and renewed confidence in God, and started to ski into the mountains. I prayed to keep my thinking spiritual, and studied the Lesson in the evening. Within a day or so the ear was no longer painful, and normal hearing was soon restored. I enjoyed a week of great skiing.
