Explorers of unlimited possibilities
If I were to begin this article by stating that the world is flat and that the Atlantic Ocean is inhabited by huge monsters, you would probably put it aside. You would rightly consider these to be medieval, outdated beliefs and not worth your attention.
But just consider for a moment what it must have been like hundreds of years ago. The misconception that the world is flat was not only considered truth but was upheld by conservative theologians as being in accord with the Bible. Therefore not to believe this misconception was blasphemous. It would have taken great courage to break away from such an ignorant theory.
Explorers such as Vasco da Gama, Columbus, and Magellan were inspired with visions of the unlimited possibilities of new worlds to be discovered. They had the courage to follow these visions despite the great opposition and hardship their actions brought upon them.
