In the cloudy and dark days
In the cloudy and dark days See Ezek. 34:12 .
—
(and they went on and on!)—
In the cloudy and dark days
We clung steadfastly to God
(there was nowhere else to cling!).
We clung to the fact that God,
Love, is the only cause and creator;
The Bible says so, and
We had proved Love's supremacy many times.
We clung to the fact that—
Despite all appearances to the contrary—
God is in control of the whole of creation.
Then, we stood, as steadfastly as we knew how,
With the truth that
God and His harmony is,
And discord is not!
Things didn't happen all at once,
But the one all-acting Mind was ruling
And we were not to be discouraged—
After all, we knew discouragement, despair, and the like
were "Gashmu" talk! See Neh. 6:6–8.
And then, at last,
Like a dream dispelled,
The clouds dispersed,
The sun came out;
We were at peace
In the bright light of healing.
