Sports with a difference!
In the United States this is one of the busiest times of the year for sports enthusiasts. Television provides almost nonstop entertainment through the closing stages of the baseball season, the gathering momentum of the football season, and an incipient basketball season. And it's also a time when viewers find it hard to resist active participation in sports on brisk fall days perfectly made for running, jumping, and throwing.
In the spirit of the season, we talked with three people whose careers have been closely associated with major league baseball and football, soccer in England, and marathon running.
