The power of God

Every day gives us the opportunity to discover more about the power of God and His Christ. To those engaged in Christian healing, an ever expanding sense of divine power is essential. The world's limited appreciation of the magnitude of God's might subjects mankind to difficulties that would never occur if people knew that God was actually all-power, the only power and cause there ever was or ever will be.

There are many who believe that God is powerful, but they also tend to believe that He exercises His power on man's behalf very rarely. A recent popular song declared that "God is watching us—from a distance." It is this sense of distance that is troubling rather than comforting. It evokes uncertainty. Is God impassively watching us struggle and suffer, waiting to see if we'll make it? Is He willing to help? Can He reach across that distance and come to our aid? Does His power work here?

The Bible provides surprisingly direct answers to such questions. When understood in its spiritual meaning, it gives us quite a different view of God. It reveals and then emphasizes that He is infinite, always present. It shows us that the supreme power of Spirit permeates creation. It helps us see that man actually exists in the divine Mind that is God, in the consciousness of His power and authority. We truly can't be outside the realm of this power, because God is All. We aren't beneath Him or off to the side. There is no outside to God's realm, and there is no place where the activity and power of God aren't fully expressed.
