Truth's healing lessons— past and present
Many of us can think of past events that we might prefer to forget; yet to blot out all remembrance of the past might well lead us to repeat our mistakes—with suffering as a consequence. So we need to learn from our own experience and from the lives of those who have gone before us. The book of Ecclesiastes tells us, "That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past" (3:15).
The all-knowing and all-seeing nature of God, or divine Mind, comprehends the needs of creation always. By adopting this spiritual truth that the divine understanding reigns throughout eternity, one begins to comprehend more readily why, on the human scene, there occur unmistakable circumstances of great good on behalf of humankind. Indeed, the life and mission of Christ Jesus are an unparalleled contribution to the welfare of humanity. Through the practice of Christian Science we are able to prove that the Master's teachings can have an impact on the present to bless and to heal.
A spiritual understanding of this Science, and an appreciation of its Discoverer, Mrs. Eddy, brought about a healing I had many years ago. This spiritual transformation helped me to see how the past record of Christian Science is forever linked with its ongoing mission today.
