"I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten"...
"I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten" (Joel 2:25). This was quoted in a testimony I heard in a Christian Science church one Wednesday evening—at one of the first testimony meetings I attended after deciding to return to the teachings of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures following a lengthy hiatus. (I found out that taking a hiatus from God is, in fact, impossible! He is always caring for and sending His love to man—always, even when it seems we're "too far gone.")
Looking back is rarely progressive (which is why it's called "looking back," I suppose), but in recounting my steps since graduating from college, I can honestly state that if it weren't for Christian Science I'd have "cashed in" long ago—or, less tragically, I'd still be battling very severe emotional problems.
My last semester in college was difficult; four years of sowing wild oats were starting to take their toll. I had enjoyed wild partying and social activities, but often felt unloved, and found it difficult to maintain a true feeling of self-worth. This in turn led me to hide behind an unattractive, egotistical personality.
