Good is forever

A Sudden wave of sadness swept over me as I walked down a perfectly beautiful white sand beach. I couldn't have been in a more idyllic setting or circumstance. Yet at that moment I was realizing just how quickly our daughters were growing up and how soon they would be leaving home. That thought saddened me, and I knew I needed to gain a broader view of my children, a clearer picture of their real, spiritual identity that can always be cherished, loved, and appreciated.

Tears flooded my eyes, and I tried to listen for God's gentle message of comfort and assurance. How many times I'd turned humbly and expectantly to God and found my answer! Sometimes that answer would come from new understanding of an idea from the Bible or Mary Baker Eddy's book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. At other times the answer would come from a friend sharing an insight with me or even from something in nature that inspired me.

I stopped and looked down. An unusual white shape was half-hidden in the sand, and I picked it up. The shell was shaped just like a beautiful Chinese fan. The rich yellow center looked like the son with beautiful rays emanating out from it into shades of orange and purple. In a row, each one on its own separate "ray," were four distinct black-and-white shapes (just the number we had in our little family), all perfectly spaced from one another.
