I was hospitalized twice as a teenager for nephritis, a disease of the kidneys. Medication was prescribed both times, and for six years I had routine examinations to be sure it was controlling the illness.
I began to study Christian Science after meeting my husband. Accounts of healings in the Christian Science magazines gave me great hope that I could be free of this bondage. God's love for His children was beginning to be my constant consideration. I put all my trust in God and stopped taking the medication.
We were overjoyed later when I became pregnant with our first child. A healthy, happy baby came after nine months of prayer. A few days after the birth of this child, doctors told me that we should not expect to have any more children because they had detected a recurrence of the kidney disease.
