What Matters to You
Too much for me
Have you ever felt that the demands of a Christian life are too difficult in today's society? I know I have. I can remember my Sunday School teacher saying to me, "Jesus wanted each of his followers to live a life of total obedience to God—to be perfect!" As soon as I heard those words, I thought that I would never make the mark. I'd never be perfect.
There were too many opportunities not to be. My brothers and sisters were always bugging me. The test paper of the kid next to me was too easily seen for me not to want to copy it. And I was always losing my temper, or talking back, or doing something wrong—even when I wanted to be good.
I thought, "Why try?" I gave up reading the Bible, going to Sunday School, and just floated along with my friends and those around me. But it kept bothering me that while I wanted to love God, I don't think I could make His team.
