Fruitage from focus on Science and Health

Some months ago a friend of mine asked me if I would drive her to keep a doctor's appointment at a hospital. I knew she was not familiar with Christian Science, but a couple of days before we were due to go, I had the opportunity to give her a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, telling her it would help her to read it.

The day came to supply the transportation as I said I would do. The doctor's office was very busy and we had to wait quite a long time. So, to pass the time, my friend took from her bag a book to read. It was the copy of Science and Health I had given her, and I saw that she had already read more than half of it. After some minutes she said to me: "Come on, let's go. I'm not going to wait any longer."

Some time before this occurrence, she had been told she would be needing an eye operation and was given an appointment to have this done at a later date. By the time she kept this appointment, which was after our above-mentioned experience, the doctor examined her and told her: "There's no need to operate. There is nothing wrong with your eyes!" She telephoned me that evening to tell me the good news and thanked me for the loan of "that" book. I told her that the copy of Science and Health was not a loan, but was hers to keep. She was most grateful, and so was I.
