Statewide inspirational meetings

The Clerk's Office has received a number of inquiries from church members regarding holding statewide inspirational meetings. On the whole, such statewide meetings are not encouraged. Before organizing meetings, members would want to give a careful reading to the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy, especially Article XXIII, Sections 1, 3, and 10, and Article XIII, Section 3. Mrs. Eddy also speaks of meetings in the closing of a letter to students on page 156 in Miscellaneous Writings.

It might be helpful to note that because of legislation affecting the practice of Christian Science in the District of Columbia, all the churches in the District recently met to consider their future actions in response to this legislative challenge in accord with Article XXIII, Section 1.

The recent Field meetings dedicated to our Leader's book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures were called for by the Clerk of The Mother Church under Article XIII, Section 3.
