Since I began to study Christian Science fourteen years ago, I have relied on this religion for everything. The more I have understood God's laws, and the more methodical I have been in applying spiritual truths, the happier and more fruitful my life has been.

When I have had physical difficulties, I have always relied on prayer, on inspiration and spiritual understanding, and I have always been healed. Also, I have witnessed many healings in my family and among my Christian Scientist friends.

My first healing, thanks be to God, was of difficulties with my stomach and kidneys. I also had a painful knee. These conditions were healed through understanding that man is really spiritual and the complete reflection of God, eternally expressing His harmony. The Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, states: "Establish the scientific sense of health, and you relieve the oppressed organ. The inflammation, decomposition, or deposit will abate, and the disabled organ will resume its healthy functions" (p. 373). And the Bible says: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones" (Prov. 3:5–8).
