Careers and humility
Reliance on human will might seem to move us up the career ladder, but in the long run, humility is more reliable.
At one time or another, most of us have felt we knew enough to manage our own lives and careers. That feeling can be good or it can be bad.
Self-reliance is good when it means we're turning humbly for direction to God and finding a higher sense of ourselves as children of God. It brings our thought about things more into agreement with the way they actually are, in which we recognize that God is supreme and man is His spiritual expression.
But self-reliance is not good if it's an expression of pride, self-will, or egotism. These characteristics would turn the reality of things upside down and make us believe man is above or in front of God, who is supreme wisdom and intelligence.
