Christian Science came into my life when I was a young wife...
Christian Science came into my life when I was a young wife and mother of two boys.
Having been awakened to a better understanding of God, I had ventured out to investigate different religions in our community. I spoke with friends and religious leaders. Down deep in my heart I felt that looking to medicine to heal human suffering was not the answer. I prayed to God to show me the way, and remember fearfully adding, "whatever the cost."
A very fine doctor was treating me on a regular basis for several physical problems; these included a nervous condidion and water retention. I was disturbed that I needed to rely on all sorts of different prescriptions, so I set aside their use for one month. Then I was tested, and the results were that I was perfectly healthy. I was glad that I was free from the bondage of depending on drugs. But it wasn't long before I found myself in front of a doctor again, complaining of my old problems. This time he spoke kindly, considered my desire not to have medication, and supported my hopes to this end.
