The best traveling companion

We can never be separated from the most certain help available.

A Friend of mine carries two tote bags when she travels. One is for her makeup and the other contains her medicines. When she explained her packing procedure to me, I felt thankful to be spared such burdens.

Of course, I have my own share of luggage, but the most important thing I carry with me is an understanding of my true being and of my relationship to God. When I travel, I go with the realization that where I am is holy ground because God is there. He is my Physician and preserver, all that I rely on or turn to. I am His beloved child, never separated from Him. Knowing this, I am able to "go out with joy, and be led forth with peace" (Isa. 55:12).

How comforting it is and what confidence it brings to know that God, who created us, is responsible for us and maintains the well-being of His creation. No heavy baggage of worries or fears can weigh us down if we realize that God, Spirit, is always loving and caring for His spiritual idea, man. That is what we truly are. In whatever corner of the world we may find ourselves, we can know that, as Jacob saw, "I [God] am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest" (Gen. 28:15).
