Retrospection
Inner voice, spiritual sense—again
my guiding star
for a moment it was
only a whispering,
nearly unheard.
Fire of Love—as always
strength of my being
for a moment it seemed
only a smoulder,
nearly spent.
Love for good—anew
treasure of my heart
for a moment it appeared
distant, misplaced,
nearly lost.
O light of the eyes
of my heart
(yes, the heart can see!):
How brilliant!
How patient and tender
the constant source
of good, never running dry!
I sing
in precious stillness
my song
up to Thee
with open hands
and upright look!
Yes, grace it is,
to feel at home—again—
in Spirit, God,
to be at home,
at peace—as always.
