How can one be obedient to NO SMOKING signs permanently?...
How can one be obedient to NO SMOKING signs permanently? An illustration from my own experience may be of help. Many years ago I learned about Christian Science and had a number of healings. I certainly hoped for freedom from smoking as well, but years went by in which my desire to smoke was as strong as ever.
Articles and testimonies I read in the Christian Science magazines described quick healings in which all desire to smoke left people with little effort, or even specific prayer on their part. Yet as I prayed for healing, nothing appeared to happen. Members of the Christian Science church I attended welcomed me into their homes, always with the promise that the habit would leave me; many spoke from experience.
I went on like this for several years, "happily unhappy": grateful for the other healings I had received, but not too glad about my smoking.
