Finding Light
From motorbikes to metaphysics
The "Finding Light" column in the Sentinel prints experiences that may be useful to people seeking new meaning in their lives. This particular "Finding Light" column is written especially for teenagers. It shows how they can put Christ, Truth, to work in their own lives—at home, at school, or in social situations.
My introduction to Christian Science came when, as a teenager, I was holidaying on a remote island. My hosts had four pretty daughters, and I was asked by one of them if I would like to sit under some trees by the beach and listen to the family read a weekly Lesson-Sermon on "Truth" from the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy. I had no idea what this would comprise, but I could not turn the invitation down!
A few months later, I started work as an apprentice engineer. About this time I bought a used motorbike and began to attend the Christian Science Sunday School. I was an eager student. At this stage I had not attempted to use what I was learning, but I was certainly excited about it.
