Hold on!
Original in German
If you are going down a narrow, steep staircase, what do you do? You hold on to the banister. If you are balancing your way along a fallen tree that is pretty wobbly, what do you do? You hold on to the branches to the left and the right of you. If you can't ride a bicycle yet, what do you need? Training wheels to help you stay upright.
What about when you're afraid or feel lonely? Is there something you can rely on then? A banister, branches, or training wheels aren't of any use. But what always helps? Prayer! When you pray, you listen to God and hold on to the good thoughts that come from Him, and they will help you.
I'd like to tell you how Anya held on to good thoughts once. On Sundays Anya goes to the Christian Science Sunday School, where she learns about God, good, and how to pray. On Thursdays, Anya always goes to the English school, where she learns to read and write English. It's a long way to get there. She goes there with a boy and his mother in their car.
